Transnet’s plans to finally build a permanent passenger liner terminal in Cape Town, following last year’s controversial Home Affairs directive that cruise liners docking in Cape Town should do so first in Duncan Dock and not the Waterfront.  Riana Geldenhuys  takes a look at the  background of the directive, what has happened since, and how far are Transnet’s plans to build a permanent terminal? Where are passengers disembarking at the moment, and how is the tourism industry feeling about that?
