This week we chatted about the growing trend of South African responsible tourism leisure packages, looking specifically at the growing trend of “green” travel packages, and what these packages entail. Riana also looked at whether these packages are more expensive as apposed to traditional ones, the viability of them and how successful these packages have been so far. We also had a look at which overseas markets are keen supporters of South African responsible tourism packages.
There seems to be some confusion around what to call these “green” packages. Should it be called responsible travel, sustainable tourism, green travel or ecotourism? Either way the industry needs to decide on one name to be able to market the packages properly.
