Recently, both MTN and Vodacom called on the National Government in South Africa to regulate OTT services. The cellular networks are unhappy that cheap messaging and communication is hurting their bottom-line especially with the movement away from SMS’s and voice calls.
OTT is a abbreviation of  ”Over The Top” services and include popular apps on cellphones, tablets and laptops such as Whatsapp and Skype.

For this edition of the first #eBizTechnology with Arthur Goldtuck for the year, we discuss these services in both a local and international context and whether the call for regulation should be answered.
