As we approach the home straight of 2012, trend observer and setter, Dion Chang from fluxtrends.co.za, ear marks one of the big trends we can expect to see unfold, namely the ‘photo sharing wars’ – specifically the phenomenon called “the Facebook eye”, in essence how we are framing our experiences for social media, instead of just enjoying them. Going into 2013, Dion also looks at the mobile app explosion for photo sharing – past, present and future. Facebook paid roughly $750 million for Instagram, so one would think that the platform is the beginning and end of photo-sharing apps, but is it? Dion doesn’t seem to think so and pointed out various other platforms to look out for in 2013. So, the photo-sharing wars continue! Exciting!
