Daniel Baron is a South African award-winning, chart-topping singer/songwriter and performing artist with an astounding 8 radio hits off his debut album ‘It’s Time’. (‘Paint My Blue Sky’, ‘Wrongfully Detained’, ‘Different Feeling’, ‘So Much More’, ‘See Thru’, ‘A Lion’s Heart’ & ‘All Over Now’.) His latest release ‘Not Here’, an epic rock/rap collaboration with hip hop star, ProVerb hit number 1 in July 2013.
He wrote and recorded 3 songs for international feature documentary film STUCK (‘Wrongfully Detained’, ‘Both Ends Burning’ & ‘Failure To Thrive’). He has had 4 charting songs on the Kia Take 40 SA – ‘So Much More’ and ‘All Over Now’ both peaked at number 2. ‘See Thru’ peaked at number 12 & ‘Not Here’ his first number 1.
He was selected to open for Bon Jovi in May 2013 as a part of the ‘Because We Can World Tour’. Daniel performed with his band to a crowd of 60 000 at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg. Baron won a Wawela Music Award for ‘Best Male Artist & Composer’ and was nominated for ‘Best Soundtrack in a Feature Film or Theatric Documentary’. The awards applaud South Africa’s international breakout tunes that go beyond borders to achieve success on a global scale.
‘So Much More’, the inspirational anthem, was used in a recent DStv advertising campaign. Baron’s songwriting ability has led him to become very sought-after in the music industry. He has written songs for other artists and corporates alike. The song ‘It’s Time’ was written and recorded for our local sporting heroes and was officially presented to 2012 Olympic Gold Medalists Chad Le Clos and Cameron van der Burgh.
