In this week’s TravelBiz news, Riana Geldenhuys reported back on the ‘’Open skies and Borders’’ seminar held in London last month.

Over 70 Ministers of Tourism from countries discussed the various travel barriers and cumbersome visa procedures that lengthen the time and cost of travel between countries, with a detrimental effect on both business travel and also tourism numbers. The seminar was one of many at the UNWTO summit (United Nations World Trade Organisation) this year.

Discussed by Riana were the results from this summit, as well as the state of tourism in Cape Town; How is Cape Town’s air connectivity looking towards the peak summer travel months for tourism and also the signs of seasonality and what the city and Western Cape Province are doing to change this seasonality.
