The SA mobile market continues to boom and we are up there in the top 25 countries globally. Our key focus remains on Handsets in 2013, to date Blackberry lead the market by 54% and the growth will continue – the bb pin has now officially replaced the request for a phone number.
We will also continue to see the growth of Smartphone penetration in our market – currently they only sit at between 20 – 25% – interestingly enough the original Nokia Smartphone still has a great presence in our market – why? – They were extremely well made and still in use by the older SA generation. Our key advice to marketers is……. focus on connecting and retaining your customers, don’t run around like a headless chickens, there is enough key data out there to assist you in getting your digital offering right.
